How to Enter the Command
1. Open the Chat Window
The easiest way to run a command in Minecraft is within the chat window. The game control to open the chat window depends on the version of Minecraft:
2. Type the Command
In this example, we will give 8 barriers to the player called DigMinecraft with the following command:
/give DigMinecraft barrier 8
Type the command in the chat window. As you are typing, you will see the command appear in the lower left corner of the game window. Press the Enter key to run the command.
Once the cheat has been entered, the 8 barriers will be added to the player's inventory.
You will see the message "Given [Barrier] x 8 to DigMinecraft" appear in the lower left corner of the game window. You have now given 8 barrier blocks to the player called DigMinecraft.
3. Place the Barrier
You can place barriers anywhere in the game to create an invisible barrier that no player or mob can go through.
Let's quickly place one of our barriers. To place the barrier, highlight a block and then right-click to place the barrier.
As you can see in the example above, only when you position your pointer on the barrier can you see its outline. Otherwise, the barrier is an invisible block that can not be seen and it blocks player movement.
